Hello! Happy New Year! Obviously, a lot has changed. The budget is broken, and the timeline is no longer correct. But, there are almost always solutions. In the next few days we will be putting a link to a live budget, complete with materials, costs, and where the materials were located. Why is this last one so important? Y'all signed up for the full trip. This is the part they don't tell the tourists. Things break all the time. That's normal. Research is mostly about finding all the ways certain things don't work. Even our understanding of genetics has a lot to do with breaking things to discover their functions. This means that reaching out to fellow researchers, doing protocol hunts in the darkest continent, pre-published bio papers. That kind of thing. The new timeline will also be up in a few days, but it will be a lot looser now. Don't worry, we still plan on getting this done in the same amount of time. It's just, you can't plan for everything, so don't sweat it. We'll be making some videos and taking pictures of step zero, building the things that are too expensive or don't exist. Watch how we turn this around. Stay tuned!

About This Project

Making gold nanoparticles (AuNP) is both costly and dangerous. AuNP are used in many areas of modern technology, ranging from high precision electronics to cancer imaging and therapies. Due to their targeted aggregation and biosafety, they exhibit impressive properties improving a variety of medical technologies. By using algae to accrue gold and then pack it into nanoparticles, we can avoid the issues with their development, while attempting to maintain medical quality.
