Check Received!

We were all very excited when we received the hand-written check from Experiment last week! After deducting the fee, our check amount turned out to be $584.20. Now we have the money, here is how we will spend it:

As one of the recruitment strategy we've planned, we used school teachers' help to distribute our study flyer and collect contact information for people who expressed an interest in our study. And we have currently reached out to 571 families through this method! To thank these teachers for their effort, we will give these (five) teachers a $50 gift card each from our fund ($250). For students who returned the "interest sheet" (regardless they indicated a yes or no), we will give them a frisbee as a thank you. We will use rest of the fund ($334.2) to purchase those frisbee (at $0.53 per frisbee rate, we can get 630 frisbees!!).

In the next few weeks, our staff will be busy with contacting these families and access their eligibility for participating in the study. Thanks to you, now we have a good amount of potential participants to contact!

And on an unrelated note... Data got a new collar!! Meow!

About This Project

This study will use mobile technology to investigate whether mothers' current feelings and emotions might influence their children's subsequent feelings, which then might affect their activity levels. Results from this study could inform us whether to target mothers' daily feelings as a way to promote children's physical activity.

Enrollment for this study is open to residents in Los Angeles County. For more information, please contact reachlab@usc.edu.

Blast off!
