The Long Road to Peer-Review Publication

Hello everyone, it has been a long time since we last updated you. A lot has happened in 2020, but now in 2021 we are pleased to announce that we have submitted a manuscript of our findings to a peer-review journal.

Peer-review science journals ensure that published articles are all reviewed by several experts. These experts decide whether articles are published or not and how articles should be revised. They provide feedback to the paper's authors and to the editors of the journal. When providing their feedback about the article, reviewers consider the questions identified in the study, the methods used to study the questions, and the value of the study.

We are very excited to share this milestone towards publication. Once published, this work will be accessible to educators, animal caregivers, and the like. The study can be used as a stepping stone for further research and as a source for testing new ways of interpreting with ambassador animals. Thank you all again for your support and we hope to share updates by June 2021 with you about our next steps!

About This Project

Many zoos offer opportunities for visitors to have up-close encounters with ambassador animals. These encounters have the potential to increase interest in these animals and hopefully inspire visitors to take action to protect animals in the wild. We will study how interactions with ambassador animals at the Bronx Zoo affects visitors’ interest, learning, and conservation intentions.

Blast off!
