Is emerald ash borer in your area? Check the map.

emeraldashborer.info is a website developed and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Michigan State University, Purdue University and Ohio State University.  On the site you can find answers to FAQs, information about EAB biology and behavior, management options available, current distribution, plans that states and other localities have in place, and much more.  Among the resources is a county-level distribution map shown above, which is updated regularly (this one is less than a week old).  The map shows confirmed detections, but unfortunately the cryptic nature of the infestation means that beetles are probably feeding outside this range already.

About This Project

In just the last decade, this wood-boring insect has killed tens of millions of ash trees in North America and is a growing threat to European ash. The goal of this project is to discover genes from Asian ash trees which allow them to resist the insect in order to save the multi-billion dollar ash resources in North America and Europe.
