The Articles are in the mail . . . What is done:

1) The article is published in an Open Access - Peer Reviewed Journal:

2) We have mailed (3/2/2016) an inscribed copy to each and every backer of this research!
3) All contributors & backers were acknowledged in the final printed article.
4) NEWS:  We will be participating in additional studies on this property in 2016 -- we have received an invitation to participate in a 4 day bio assessment of the Invertebrate fauna on the Powderhorn Ranch Conservation Area and expect to attend with a team of 4 - 5 scientists to help complete that baseline study.

About This Project

How has a Hemileuca moth evolved to live in a unique coastal Texas ecosystem?

The East Texas Natural History Collection

We are studying a population of moths in an unique oak ecosystem in a coastal barrier island environment to determine the relationship between the moth, its primary larval food plant, and the oak ecosystem it inhabits. This species, previously known only from Central Texas, has somehow evolved to live in a sand dominated coastal environment. Much of the known habitat will transition to Texas Parks & Wildlife management and our research will help in developing a sustainable land use plan.
