Some of my insect artI have put together some cool photos of insects taken by me and friends over the past few years. Here's a few of them!
Polyzosterine cockroach from SE Asia/Australia. One the coolest roaches I have ever seen. Absolutely 100% real.                
 
Latrodectus (black widow) spider from Guyana. Very striking coloration. 
                
NOT a lobster but a type of arachnid called a "vinigaroon". One of the strangest and ugliest things you'll ever see in your life. Great for a valentine's day card! 
                
A spider from Guyana. I don't know what kind it is but damn it's cool.
                 
A cute tortoise beetle, again from Guyana. I wish I had gotten a few of these incredible cute beetles for my collection. But I didn't, so they live on!

About This Project

How do tropical landscapes drive insect evolution?

Most of the species on earth are in the tropics, but where did all this biodiversity come from? We want to study how certain landscape features contribute to evolutionary diversification in a tropical savannah. By comparing populations of cockroaches across the savannah we can understand the forces driving their evolution. Why cockroaches? There are a huge diversity (>4500 species) of cockroaches globally and we know almost nothing about them.
