Delays, delays

A quick note to keep our much appreciated supporters updated...due to COVID and travel restrictions, we have not been able to get our equipment to Zimbabwe. Although we are still manually monitoring roads and wildlife, this has definitely put a damper on implementing the project as we originally intended, so we have had to extend our timeline and anticipated goal dates.

As of right now, the earliest we are expecting to receive the equipment is October, so we may not post any lab notes for a few months. However, we do plan to keep you updated as things progress :) Thank you again for supporting PDRT and wildlife!

About This Project

Wildlife deaths due to vehicular collisions are a global concern. Physical barriers to reduce speeding are not always possible in conservation areas, so a rapid and reliable speed enforcement system is essential when speed bumps and fences cannot be used. Some vehicles travel at twice the posted speed limit in the KAZA study area: endangering wildlife and community members. This project to monitor and reduce speeding is the first step in deploying a larger regional and intercountry wide system.
