Approaching hand-in

Dear Backers,

A small update on the project during this challenging time we are all facing right now. The situation has of course affected the universities where I have carried out my project, and my Masters' thesis hand-in date has been postponed for my whole class until June 1st. We are now in the home stretch and I am finishing up all parts of the project and putting it all in writing. I am really looking forward to the final product, and to present the findings!

I hope you are well and staying safe, taking care of both physical and mental health.

As always, thank you for supporting this project.

About This Project

Toxicants of human origin are a growing concern to conservation. Lead (Pb) is a toxicant that accumulates in the body over time. It has no biological function and can cause many negative health effects over time. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that there are no safe levels of lead in the body.

The brown bear is exposed to lead through scavenging. We will investigate the impact of lead on the health of wild brown bears and identify predictable blood changes (biomarkers) of toxicity.

Blast off!
