Cheaper blue light transilluminator!Special thanks to Julius Su for leading us to a much more affordable blue light transilluminator from IORodeo! This will reduce the cost of the blue light from $398 to $120--a $278 savings or 59% reduction in our overall cost. It looks like the IORodeo mini blue LED transilluminator has all the same basic features as the one in our original design.

Building a gel imager on a budget

Does science always have to be this expensive or does it feel like we are getting ripped off sometimes? Gel imagers, like most scientific equipment, are cost prohibitive (read overpriced), but we are trying to build our own from basic equipment on a tight budget. We will document the process and the results for others in need of an economical gel imager to follow.
