New camera selected for DPV prototype

We will be testing DeepWater Exploration exploreHD 3.0 cameras for the new DPV design. "Thanks to careful tuning and AI image processing, exploreHDs have exceptional color fidelity, producing pleasing, natural images. With integrated H.264 compression technology and our open-source camera driver, you can stream up to 7 cameras simultaneously without major quality loss or latency. " - DWE

We will be starting with just two cameras taking overlapping images, but have the flexibility in the future to add additional cameras to the design.

About This Project

A lack of standardization in ecological survey protocols for occupational and community field scientists is a global barrier to the size and quality of data sets front line researchers, conservationists, and policy makers need for impactful marine solutions. Our project will build on emerging technology in ROV/DPV photogrammetry surveys, machine learning, & the use of AI in underwater surveys, to develop open source ROV and DPV hardware specifications and data collection protocols.
