Matching Goal Achieved!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to write a quick update and let you know that we made the intermediate goal for the matching donation... 4 times over! You guys rock!

Thanks to everyone who has supported this project thus far. We're almost to our overall goal, and we have 15 days left to do it. Thanks for donating!

Here's the link if you want to share: Are Coyotes Contributing to the Spread of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in Arizona?

About This Project

Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) is a tick-borne bacterial infection that can cause permanent disability or death in humans, with a case fatality rate up to 28% untreated. In 2003, RMSF moved into Arizona, where it is vectored by the brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus).

We would like to determine whether coyotes develop antibodies for RMSF - indicating that they are affected by the disease - and investigate whether they facilitate the dispersal of RMSF-infected ticks.

Blast off!
